Music Camp Counsellors
Sihle-Sizwe Vineyard Organization creates social, cultural and recreational programs for Canadian and immigrant families within Canada and overseas. The organization aims to bridge the gap and empower immigrant women, youth and families through engagement in programs and education. The programs’ focus on youth mentorship and intercultural connections through music and dance as well as on having open dialogue sessions for both youth and parents/family about daily issues facing them.
The organization is looking for devoted and responsible Camp Counsellors for its office in Edmonton to operate and implement the organization’s musical summer camp on a day-to-day-basis. These include music and dance lessons and activities, supervision of campers (youth and children), planning and implementation of the camp daily activities. The Summer Camp Counsellors will report to the Camp Coordinator.

Title: Music Camp Counsellors
Status: Several Full-Time positions to be filled
Wage: $15/Hour
Location: 6770 – 129 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5C 1V7
Work Terms: Weekdays and possible weekends (Total 8 weeks of employment, 30 hours/week)

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Camp Coordinator, the Camp Counsellor will be responsible for:
- Developing, supervising, and participation in camp-wide
- Programming activities with participants of different ages
- Participating in training workshops held prior to camp sessions
- Building relationship with all participants by showing compassion, empathy and understanding
- Taking roll call at the beginning and end of every activity
- Keeping accurate records and reports of all activities and camp participants
- Supervising camp participants during all camp activities
- Taking primary responsibility for the health, well-being and happiness of children/youth participating at the camp
- Participating in cooking lunches for participants
- Arranging trips files
- Setting up cleaning in the summer camp area
- Implementing safety regulations and emergency procedures
- Providing weekly written reports about camp status to Camp Coordinator
- Meeting/communicating regularly with camp Coordinator regarding concerns, updates, challenges, activities, etc.
- Recognizing and reporting any emerging issues to the Camp Coordinator during camp duration
- Performing other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Candidates must have valid Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector
- Candidates should be prepared for physical labour of lifting and/or moving of objects.
- Experience with children in a camp or musical setting preferred.

- High energy, self-starter
- Desire to work with children and youth in an academic and leisure camp setting
- Excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service-oriented attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
